Black women are four times more likely to die from a pregnancy related cause than white women. If the medical system has failed black women, we need to make noise and cause disruption to bring attention to the lack of culturally competent care by promoting ‘bravery and a standing up for yourself’ mentality. Black women need culturally competent care.
